the main character is named taylor, she is 30 and has been able to read minds whenever she touches someone. she has had this gift from birth and no one knows about it except her, her best friend (este) and her other friend danielle who happens to be este's sister. she thought it was normal until she became older and then realized only she is able to read people's thoughts. this takes place in reading, pennsylvania in 2013.

taylor and her best friend este meet up every single tuesday night for wine at olive garden after their waitressing shift is over. one day when they're getting their weekly cup of wine at olive garden este confesses to taylor that she's been losing sleep because she suspects her husband of cheating on her. este explains that he's been acting different. she notices how her husbands lips are a different color than usual which she thinks is because of the residue of another woman's lipstick. she also thinks he's committing an infidelity because on their shared/joint account he has been purchasing a lot of jewelry which este hasn't been receiving and este thinks that her husband is giving the jewelry he's purchased to his secret lover. este tells taylor that she is planning on confronting her husband about the affair and slashing his tires in revenge.

a week goes by and taylor goes to olive garden and waits for este to get there so she could ask about what's been going on with her husband. este didn't show up which was odd and never happened, so taylor called este's sister danielle and asked if she had heard from este. danielle says este wasn't at her job, and she hadn't heard from her and that she's getting worried. taylor leaves olive garden and the next morning on the newspaper she sees este in a missing segment of the paper. she got ready for her waitressing shift and este's house is on the way to her work. she passed este's house and noticed how este's husbands car had gotten brand new tires, and she realized how este's husband's mistress moved in as well. taylor realizes how este was planning on confronting him about his affair and how she wanted to slash his truck tires, and then she noticed how este's husband might've killed her to keep her quiet. taylor now suspects este's husband of murdering este. she had a usual waitressing shift and then after, she called danielle to meet up with her and explain about how she suspects este's husband of killing este. all of the evidence leads to him killing her.

danielle suggests she talks to este's husband and try to read his mind to find out. taylor sets up a time to meet with este's husband. they meet up at olive garden the next day and her husband seems a little distracted and off. she makes conversation with him and then their hands brush. taylor gets a vivid vision of este's husband stabbing este to death and she gasps in shock and drops her wine glass. they (taylor and este's husband) both leave olive garden and taylor calls danielle right away to let her know what she found out.

danielle and taylor decide to avenge este's death and kill este's husband in revenge. that night at 2AM, taylor and danielle drive over and sneak into este's husbands house, and stab este's husband to death while he is asleep. Taylor cleans up the mess and blood but she has experience because she used to work as a maid. then, quickly and quietly, they bring his body into the car and drive over to a huge lake. taylor and danielle's plan is to tie bricks onto este's husband's body so they can throw him into the lake and he'll sink. they take him out of the car and tie bricks onto him. danielle and taylor find a boat there and taylor got her boating liscense when she was 15 years old, so she legally could control a boat. They drag este's husbands' body onto the boat and they sail into the middle of the lake and toss este's husband's body into the lake. they sail back to the boat dock and get back into danielle's car and she drops taylor back at her place.

within the next couple weeks, search parties have been going out for este and este's husband. the police highly suspect este's husband's mistress of killing este's husband for the life insurance money, but they just can't prove it. while in turn, the mistress believes taylor killed este's husband as the mistress is aware that este's husband killed este, because she accused him of cheating and she suspects taylor killed the husband to avenge este and get revenge.
