Our story starts in a quiet, isolated, misty small town that has its fair share of secrets. A group of teenagers discover an old crash-landed space-ship and a conspiracy designed to keep the secrets of the cosmos hidden, a conspiracy designed by the mayor, the very model of a perfect citizen, enforced by the very idea that people see what they want to believe. The teenagers find themselves on the run, forced to flee in the very shift they had found, as they rocket into the stars and into a world they had no idea existed. Forced to come to terms about the complicated origins of one of their own and caught up in a space way, the group is hijacked by a space pirate captain- only to be taken under the pirate's wing. What results is a mysterious, coming of age, interstellar adventure filled with cassette tapes, found family. unrequited love, dystopian regimes, and much more.

Some other notes about the story;

It takes place with an aesthetic of Cassette Futurism, which is somewhat like a mix of steampunk and Raygun Gothic with added “retro-ness”. (With plenty of elements of sci-fi cyberpunk) Preferably, a line artist would be comfortable drawing various characters and expressions. The scenery will be important, and so will coloring, so I recommend both artists somewhat work together (or are the same person). I'm not really sure what the genre will be of the comic, but it definitely leans a lot more towards mystery, with the added bonus of cryptic small towns and space pirates. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece! No pressure! Hopefully this comic will just be a fun, mysterious, trippy romp through time, space, and our character's internal qualms. Thematically, it will be pretty heavy in symbolism, and, I assume, will include the theme of finding yourself quite a bit, as the main cast are teenagers who are trying to figure who they are and how they fit into the bigger picture of the universe (one is doing that quite literally, as they will be a shapeshifting alien), while finding each other along the way.
