Here is a weekly we can do. I mentioned it earlier but I'll put it here also. We also have the mothers day word crawl, but to my knowledge we still need two more.

For this week, we are going to be working on character development. This assignment will have two parts- identifying character development, and writing your own.

Character development is basically when your character improves throughout the story. They may realize something about themselves, the world, or another person. They could learn a new skill. Basically, character development is when the character improves, and it is in almost every novel. For example, in Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, Harry learns to believe in himself. At the beginning, he is very timid and scared but by the end he gains courage and learns about his self worth.

You can complete these assignments in any order, but they all must be completed in order to complete the weekly.

Part 1- Reading

  1. Read a book from start to finish. If you have started a book before the week began, you can use that, but you must read at least 125 pages for this. You can also listen to an audio book instead.
  2. After reading the book, reflect on how the character has changed since the beginning. Have they learned an important lesson? Have they changed?
  3. Write a 300 word essay about how they changed. Include how they were at the beginning, why they changed, and how they were at the end.

Part 2- Writing

  1. Make sure your character has flaws. You can't improve if you have no flaws! Some of these flaws will not go away, others will. (Examples: Naivete, lack of self-confidence, overreliance on a person, etc.)
  2. Then, making sure it aligns with the plot, think of some ways the character can improve. Make sure by the end they still have some flaws.
  3. Plot out how the character will develop from beginning to the end. This must be at least 500 words.

You should gain at least 500 words and 125 pages from this activity. It is worth 800 points.
